American Mahjong Teacher
Part-time, flexible · $25/hour
Utah Valley Mahjong is growing fast. Our classes sell out quickly, our community is buzzing, and we need more great people to help us keep the magic going.
This isn't your average part-time gig. It's a chance to share a game you love, connect with people across generations, and be part of a team that genuinely lifts each other up. In our opinion, the best teachers don't just share knowledge, they spark something inspiring in the people around them. Does that sound like you?
What the role looks like:
You'll teach our 101 Beginner and 102 Intermediate/Advanced Mahjong classes, help facilitate open play events, and occasionally support tournaments. Hours are part-time and built around your schedule.
Who We're Looking For (Is this you?)
You know your Mahjong. You're at least an intermediate player with a solid grasp of American Mahjong rules and gameplay. You don't have to know everything (we'll train you on our curriculum) but you're genuinely fluent in the game and enthusiastic about it.
You light up a room. You're confident and natural in front of a group. You can hold the room's attention, keep energy high, and run a class with structure and ease while making every single person feel seen, welcome, and excited to be there.
You're a people person at your core. Warm, approachable, patient with beginners, and genuinely interested in the humans you're teaching. You love connection. You remember names. You make people feel like they belong.
You make everyone around you better. You're the kind of person who raises the energy in a room rather than draining it. You collaborate, you encourage, you share what you know freely. You're here to multiply others.
You're reliable and take ownership. You show up prepared, you communicate clearly, and when you commit to something, it gets done. No micromanagement needed.
You're open to learning. You don't need to have all the answers on day one. We have a teacher training program, and we love investing in our people. Curiosity and coachability go a long way here.
Ready to Apply?
To apply, complete our two forms below — a teacher application and a brief American Mahjong knowledge assessment. The application takes about 10 minutes and covers your background, experience, and what draws you to this role. The assessment gives us a sense of your rules knowledge, so just answer honestly and don't overthink it.
We can't wait to hear from you!
